DockDogs® Made Successful Local Debut at Discovery Green Houston's New Downtown Park HOUSTON - July 2, 2008 -- Houston, well-known for its enthusiastic sports fans, embraced another exciting athletic event as DockDogs®made its Houston debut at Discovery Green, Houston’s newest park located across from the George R. Downtown Green Market at Discovery Green HOUSTON - May 13, 2008 -- Houstonians seeking to supplement their Thursday afternoon happy hour have an exciting alternative in Downtown Houston. Discovery Green, the urban park located across from the George R. Brown Convention Center, opened April 13, 2008. Houstonians and visitors to the city are enjoying 12-acres of urban green space including one-acre lake, children's playground area, interactive water features, multi-use amphitheater stage and sloping lawn, small and large dog runs, various public art works, lawns and many special events and unique programs. With its emphasis on healthy living , Discovery Green is proud to host a weekly organic urban market every Thursday afternoon from 4:00 - 7:30 p.m. More...

Discovery Green Opened April 13, 2008 The new 12-acre downtown park celebrated its official opening on Sunday, April 13. Mayor Bill White and members of the Discovery Green Conservancy kicked off the festivities with a “green” ribbon cutting, special appearance by the Budweiser Clydesdales, performance by the Kaminari Taiko Drummers and a Car Horn Concerto. More than 20,000 visitors enjoyed the day-long menu of activities at the park, which culminated in a showing of the silent movie The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari with live music by Two Star Symphony.
